DIVISION IN FASHION
Hey Guys,
Division in Fashion market today.
When the word 'Division' comes to mind, it draws me back to Nikita days... anyone remembers? The bad ass undercover agent?.... okay back to board lol
The division here is the segments in the fashion world. Basically fashion is divided into three markets and they are
*Ready - to - wear Market (RTW)
* The mass Market
* The Couture Market
The Ready - to - wear Market or Pret - a - porter (love the sound of that) is basically clothing marketed in a finished condition and in standard clothing sizes.
Most Ready to wear lines are either industrially manufactured or mass produced, which brings us to the next one called......
Mass Market. This usually is Market for goods that are produced in large quantities or more on a large scale. In Spanish, it's called 'mercado de masas'.... I just had to lol
Last but not least is the king of all
COUTURE!!!
This literally gives me the chills. Couture basically is high end. It's the most expensive. It's the all 'you' design. Tailored made to measure fashionable clothes. The design and manufacture lines with the clients requirements and measurements.
Every notable fashion designer deals with the couture market. Like say: Karl Lagerfield, Elie Saab( love her aesthetics), Alexander McQueen, Giambattista Valli( his art is off the chain), Cristobal Balenciaga, Deola Sagoe, LadyMaker, amongst others.
Which do you dig more? Ready to wear, mass produce or couture?
